CBD and Skin Conditions

Skin disorders vary greatly in symptoms and severity.

They can be temporary or permanent, and may be painless or painful. Some have situational causes, while others may be genetic. Some skin conditions are minor, and others can be life-threatening.

There are many different types of skin disorders. Too many to list here

How CBD May Help Skin Conditions

A 2019 study notes that CBD may be useful for treating some common symptoms of skin conditions, such as dryness and itching. The anti-inflammatory properties of CBD may be particularly useful for reducing potential triggers of eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. More recent research from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) suggests that CBD can most certainly help with pesky and serious skin problems.

Here’s how CBD oil can help alleviate these five of the most commonly diagnosed skin problems:

Acne

CBD oil can decrease acne because of its anti-inflammatory characteristics that act to reduce the visible inflammation induced by clogged hair follicles. It stimulates the endocannabinoid system, which includes anandamide, a neurological transmitter that regulates cell growth. If not balanced, it can negatively affect the skin. CBD oil also helps inhibit excessive oil secretion, which is one of the principal causes of acne. Another benefit of CBD oil over prescription medications is that it solely targets the problem-causing cells. It does not affect the healthy cells thus reducing side effects such as dry and irritated skin.

Itchy and Dry Skin (Eczema)

The anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties of cannabinoids applied topically may help improve eczema. According to researchers at the University of Colorado, CBD can be used as a natural alternative to commonly-used steroids. Several researchers maintain that CBD offers immense potential in regulating natural skin processes. Besides, the new topically-applied treatments of CBD have already been cleared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having no potential for abuse or harm, as various clinical trials have marked positive outcomes on the symptoms of Eczema.

Redness and Skin Bumps (Rosacea)

Because cannabis is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, CBD oil can help decrease the redness and inflammation. Stress and anxiety often trigger flare-ups, but they can be better managed with the use of CBD.

Scaly and Itchy Skin (Psoriasis)

CBD cannot cure conditions like psoriasis but research has shown that it might help some people cope with their symptoms by decreasing pain sensation, inflammation, and the anxiety. Endocannabinoid receptors can be found in our skin, giving CBD extraordinary possibilities for therapeutic effects on skin problems, such as psoriasis.

Cold Sores

Researchers evaluated the anti-inflammatory properties of cannabinoids and concluded that CBD topicals were effective at lowering inflammation of the skin with cold sore breakouts

Dosing Thoughts

Research studies have used doses from 15mg to as high as 600mg. Typical CBD supplements provide 20mg to 25mg. When taking CBD for lupus pain, dosing can vary widely depending on the depth of pain you are experiencing. One goal to consider is to use CBD to replace pharmaceuticals you might be taking. CBD is an all-natural alternative that does not build up in your system and cannot be overdosed.

May we suggest trying one of our CUBED Hemp based CBD  Topicals. Available in creams and sprays, there is a CUBED Naturales topical product designed for your situation. Or look to our Tinctures. Available in 1200mg or 3600mg concentrations, mixed with our exclusive Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy or NYS-sourced sunflower seed oil. Our Graduated Sprayer makes it simple to dose properly.

Apply a CBD topical directly to you affected area. Re-apply as needed. Usually a light application is all that is needed. More is not necessarily better. Avoid eye contact.

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement program. Most prescribed medications cannot and should not be stopped all at once.

Also consider treating a condition from the inside out. Many skin conditions are caused by internal problems and using a tincture may improve your condition.
It has been suggested to start with a dose of 10mg to 15mg of CBD twice a day. After a few days, you may want to reduce prescribed meds incrementally while increasing your CBD dosage the following day. Steps of 10mg are suggested to help monitor changes. Monitor your symptoms; be aware of how you feel. Don’t hurry the process. Wait 2 to 3 days between changes. This will allow you to determine the dosing that your body requires to meet your goals, while documenting how your medications interact.
